A Legacy of Silk in Macclesfield
Macclesfield, England, where our partnered factory resides has been synonymous with silk production since the 1700s. Known as the silk capital of England, Macclesfield has a deep-rooted history being considered the Western end of the ancient Silk Road. It was once the largest producer of finished silk products in all of Europe. The town's prosperity was fuelled by the river Bollin, which provided power to numerous mills and clean water for silk processing, a testament to its place in history. We are proud to be working with one of the last surviving screen printing mills in Macclesfield.
